Lifetime Wellness

South Park Animal Hospital and Dr. Gill provides routine veterinary
care of dogs, cats, ferrets, hamsters, Guinea pigs, and rabbits. We
believe that preventative care is the cornerstone to good health for
our pet's longevity. We use only the highest quality vaccines and a
proven protocol to provide the maximum protection. We also believe that
routine heartworm and internal parasite prevention must be used in our
area.
Medical Care / Diagnostics

We provide the best medical care for our pets. Our hospitalized pets
are provided excellent nursing care by our dedicated veterinary
assistants. Our in-house laboratory can provide quick results for most
blood tests including CBC, health profiles, thyroid and cortisol tests,
electrolytes, occult heartworm, intestinal parasites, feline leukemia
and feline immunodeficiency virus, parvovirus and RAST allergy testing.
We also use a reference lab for tests that can't be done at our
hospital.
Anesthetic / Pain Management

All pet owners have concerns about sedation and anesthesia in their
pets and rightly so. We minimize the risks in several ways. First, all
pets undergoing anesthesia must have a pre-operative blood profile.
This will help determine health and possible risk factors that we must
be aware of. Second, all anesthetized pets are monitored closely by a
veterinary technician. We also have electronic monitoring of the ECG,
blood oxygen concentration (PO2), respiration and temperature. We have
available non-invasive blood pressure equipment. Pain management is as
important in our pets as it is for us. Studies show that our pets heal
more rapidly when pain management is utilized. All surgical pets are
given pain medication as needed to keep them comfortable.
Pharmacy / Prescription Diets

We carry a completely stocked pharmacy for your convenience as well
as all popular heartworm and flea/tick products. We use and recommend
the Purina line of prescription diets, CMN. Purina Pro-Plan pet foods
are also available.
Surgery

We perform soft-tissue, cosmetic and orthopedic surgeries. Of
course, spays and neuters are the most common but we remove tumors and
growths, ear trims, dewclaws, and most orthopedics. Dr. Gill enjoys
doing orthopedic surgery. For fracture repair, we use pins and wires
and have instruments for bone plating. We repair ACL (anterior cruciate
ligament) using the Securos suture system, repair patella luxations and
other joint repairs. We have an excellent relationship with a referral
practice in Dallas when needed.
Dental
Dentistry has become an important part of our veterinary practice.
Dental health, or the lack of it, causes a great number of systemic
problems including heart disease. Regular dental examinations and
cleanings are vital to good health of our pets. We can do routine
cleanings, extractions of bad or diseased teeth, treat gum diseases and
remove most oral masses. We recommend the use of the new dental vaccine
for periodontal disease.
Radiography (X-Ray)

We have the capabilities to take any needed x-rays of our pets. We
have an automatic processor that quickly develops the x-ray films. We
also perform specialized procedures such as OFA certification, barium
studies, and pneumocystograms.
Bathing
We offer several types of bathing on both dogs and cats including
medicated baths for skin diseases. We also treat for external parasites
and mange. Limited grooming is available by appointment.
Day Care / Boarding

All of our kennels and runs are indoors and climate controlled. We
have a large fenced exercise yard so that our dogs can get daily play
time outdoors. Cats have their own "chateau" that is away from the
dogs. A high quality food is provided as well as clean comfortable
bedding.
